Is R407C a "drop-in" replacement for R-22?
R407C is a "service replacement," meaning it is the closest chemical match to R22’s pressure-temperature characteristics. However:
- Oil Compatibility: R22 uses mineral oil, but R407C requires POE (Polyolester) oil. You must flush the old oil and replace it with POE.
- No Mixing: You cannot mix R407C and R22 in the same system. The old R22 must be fully recovered before charging with R407C.
